The second edition of Bangladesh Premier League(BPL) formally got off a grand opening at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday. President Zillur Rahman inaugurated the T20 cricket competition of Bangladesh at 6:30pm followed by a firework display. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon and chairman of the BPL governing council Afzalur Rahman Sinha spoke on the occasion.
The tournament starts with the first match between last year’s title holder Dhaka Gladiators and the runner up Khulna Royal Bengals at Sher-e-Bangla-National Cricket Stadium.
Famous performers’ from Bangladesh and also from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan performed during the opening night. Bangladesh’s star singer Runa Laila first came on the stage followed by popular singer Momtaz and James. A significant folk songs and dances also performed by the group of performers with the presentation of traditional values of Bangladesh.
Sri Lankan actress Jacqueline Fernandez, Pakistani singer Atif Aslam and Indian Sunidhi Chauhan were also performed in the occasion.
